إحتفت الاوساط الأدبية والثقافية بتعيين الكاتب والناقد السوداني محمد الربيع محمد صالح من قبل وزارة الثقافة القطرية رئيساً لتحرير مجلة الدوحة العريقة، وهي الإصدارة الثقافية الشهرية التى تصدر عن وزارة الثقافة بدولة قطر، وتتوجه إلى قراء الثقافة العرب من المحيط إلى الخليج وفي المهاجر العالمية المختلفة، وذلك إعتبارا من الاول من يناير 2023م.
تخرج الناقد محمد الربيع محمد صالح في جامعة البصرة كلية الآداب قسم اللغة الانجليزية عام 1993م وعمل بعد تخرجه موظفا في الهيئة القومية لرعاية الآداب والفنون، ثم محررا صحافيا في مجلة الخرطوم التى تصدرها وزارة الثقافة والإعلام السودانية، ثم صحيفة “سنابل” المتخصصة التي كانت تصدر عن بيت الثقافة آنذاك.
بدأ حياته شاعرا ثم انتقل للكتابة النقدية حين تناول أعمال البروفيسور الراحل أحمد الطيب زين العابدين القصصية، ثم تناول بالنقد في صحف الخرطوم أعمالا ابداعيه مثل مسرحية “الجرح والغرنوق” للدكتور عبد الله علي ابراهيم، وغيرهما من رموز الابداع السوداني.
عمل رئيسا للقسم الثقافي في صحيفة “الصحافي الدولي”، وأسهم بفعالية في تأسيس القسم الثقافي في التلفزيون السوداني، وقدم فيه العديد من البرامج الثقافية. كما عمل محررا ثقافيا في صحيفة “الوطن” القطرية، ويعد واحدا من نقاد الحداثة المهمين.
له العديد من المؤلفات والكتب، منها: “زمن الكتابة – النص الشعري السوداني على خط شروع الحداثة” وكتاب “ترنيمة الذاكرة المنهوبة -كتابة عن أدوار الصائدين وأدوار الفرائس” وكتاب “الصهيل الثاني للكتابة – حفريات في المشهد الابداعي”، و”الوجه الآخر”.
