وقال المهندس معمر محمد خير مدير عام شركة إفريقيا للتنمية والتطوير المحدودة في تصريح إن المختبر ينتج مليون شتلة موز في العام خالية من الأمراض ،مبينا أن باكورة الإنتاج الجاهز الآن 80 ألف شتلة جاهزة للبيع وتم حجزها إضافة إلى توفير أمهات الموز النسيجي لإنتاجها في المختبر ،وأضاف أن التوسع سيستمر إلى أن يكتفي السوق المحلي بجميع الولايات، مبينا أن إنتاج الشتول محليا يقلل من عملية الاستيراد ويوفر فرص عمل في الداخل .
وأوضح معمر ان الولايات التي لديها ميزة نسبية لزراعة الموز وهي ولايات كسلا ، سنار ، الخرطوم موضحا المزايا التفضيلية التي يمتلكها السودان مثل توفر المياه ، الأيدي العاملة الرخيصة والقرب من مناطق الاستهلاك حيث يصل الصادر إلى السعودية ومناطق الشام في فترة زمنية وجيزة وعقد مقارنة بين الاستيراد من دول مثل الأورغواي والبرازيل والتي يستورد منها الشرق الأوسط حاليا .
وأكد على خلو الشتول من الأمراض، مؤكدا على ضرورة إنتاج فسائل خالية من الأمراض بدلا من استجلابها من البرازيل وفرنسا وجنوب إفريقيا وأن توفيرها بتكلفة قليلة تنعكس على المستهلك، وأشار إلى أن إنتاج المختبر يركز على مواصفات الصادر العالية لجلب عملات حرة وأنه تم عمل مزارع تجريبية لإنتاج الموز عبر الري المطري في التروس العليا بعيدة عن النيل، مبينا أن السودان يصدر الآن لمصر والأردن والسعودية .
وقال معمر إن الموز تسويقه سهل وقنوات التسويق موجودة ولكن التحدي أنه لا يوجد إنتاج يغطي الطلب العالمي العالي على الموز خاصة بعد أن توقف إنتاج مصر كأكبر منتج للموز بسبب قلة الماء، ونبه إلى ضرورة استغلال الأسواق المتاحة .
