وأمكن حفظ العينة الخامسة فحسب وتخزينها في متحف العلوم والأرض التابع لجامعة سابيينتزا في روما، وهي في حالة جيدة رغم كونها تعود إلى 7 ملايين سنة.
وأعيد أخيرا بواسطة الماسح الضوئي (سكانر) فحص هذه الجمجمة البالغ طولها 50 سنتمترا، وأمكن تكوينها في صور ثلاثية الأبعاد، مما ساهم بعد طول انتظار في توضيح الجوانب الغامضة في تركيبتها.
وتبيّن من ذلك أن لدى فصيلة “كرودوديلوس شيشياي” نتوءا على مستوى الخطم مما يجعل وجهها محدبا. وفقا لوكالة الصحافة الفرنسية.
